FY21 Surface Water Management

Project Overview

Fortescue Metals Group (FMG) required additional surface water infrastructure at its Cloudbreak, Christmas Creek and Solomon mine sites to support furture road infrastructure works and mining activities.

The works involved the installation of 3 groups of corrugated steel pipes (CSP or culverts) to light vehicle roads and heavy vehicle roads that service the sites and the construction of a light vehicle road.
The installation of the culverts in the works are intended to control the water flow (primarily from rain) so that it does not pond on roads, which may cause roads to be shut down or accidents or erosion to occur.
