Canyon G Detailed Earthworks and Concrete

Project Overview

The Canyon G project was designed to increase FMG’s capacity to handle iron ore generated from the company’s Pilbara mine sites.

The Project includes the upgrade of the stockyard and associated materials handling and shipping infrastructure, including a new stacker.

The project exceeded training and development targets with three engineering graduates and eleven Motivation Civil and Mining Academy graduates engaged on the project.

Scope of works

The project was delivered across five work fronts and the scope included:

  • Clearing and grubbing, stockpiling, removal and re-spread of cleared material
  • Bulk earthworks pads, roads, embankments, earth retaining structures and berms
  • Design piling to suit loading and arrangement
  • Supply and install bored concrete piles
  • Construct and remove concrete pads
  • Drainage works
  • Supply, install, and test underground utilities
  • Locate and protect existing utilities
  • Liaison with service providers and local authorities
  • Supply and install all concrete works
  • Supply and install geotextile membranes and geotextile fabrics
  • Construct the stacker berm above the existing drainage
  • Construct roads in and around Anderson Point
  • Dust management
  • Services relocation and demolition works
