Safety

A Message From Our CEO

At Ertech, the safety of our people will always be our highest priority. Every project we deliver relies on the skill, commitment and professionalism of our teams. It is our responsibility to ensure that everyone who works with us can do their job in an environment where they feel safe, respected and supported.

Our safety culture, Safely, every day reflects how we approach this responsibility. It recognises that safe outcomes come from people who care for each other, leaders who listen and learn, and systems that support good decisions in the field. Safety is not something that sits beside our work. It is fundamental to how we plan, design and deliver our projects.

Our values of Courage, Collaboration and Authenticity guide how we create this culture. We have the courage to speak up when something isn’t right, we collaborate to solve problems and share knowledge, and we approach safety conversations with honesty and openness.

Just as importantly, safety begins with care – care for the people we work with, the families who rely on them, and the communities who trust us to deliver critical infrastructure safely.

Together, we are building a culture where people support one another, learn from experience, and continually improve how we work – Safely, every day.

James Giumelli, Chief Executive Officer

Working Safely, every day

Delivering infrastructure safely requires teamwork, professionalism and a shared commitment to looking after one another.

By combining care for people, learning from experience and improving the systems around us, we create a culture where safety is part of everything we do.

Together, we work Safely, every day.

Managing Critical Risks

Our projects involve complex activities where certain hazards have the potential to cause serious harm.

To manage these hazards, we focus on Ertech’s 10 Critical Risks – the activities that require the highest level of planning, control and supervision.

By clearly identifying these risks and ensuring effective controls are in place, we help our teams recognise high-risk situations and manage them safely before work begins.

Our 10 Critical Risk Protocols address:

Our Safety Approach

Our approach to safety focuses on engagement, learning and continual improvement.

Leadership and Engagement Our leaders actively engage with teams in the field, listening to their experiences and supporting safe decision-making.

Learning and Improvement We learn from both successes and challenges to better understand how work happens in real conditions.

Open Communication We encourage people to speak up, share concerns and contribute ideas that improve safety and performance.

Designing for Safety Safety is integrated into planning, engineering and project delivery to ensure work can be carried out safely and efficiently.
