The Northern Road Upgrade

Project Overview

Ertech formed a joint venture with Georgiou and were contracted to construct 5.8km of new dual carriageway for the new Northern Road, as part of the major arterial road alignment, associated with the new Western Sydney Airport. Some benefits of the project include:

  • Improved transport connections between Penrith, the M4 Motorway, the Western Sydney Airport and surrounding developments
  • Increased road capacity for future growth and development
  • Improved access for construction and operation of the Western Sydney Airport
  • Improved public transport by providing bus priority at intersections
  • Improved safety for cyclists and pedestrians by providing a new shared path

  • Lean mix concrete pavement, 30,000m3
  • Asphalt pavement 60,000t
  • New potable water mains, HV and LV reticulation and streetlighting
  • Relocating existing and installing new NBN and Telstra infrastructure
  • New traffic light and CCTV infrastructure
  • Associated road furnishings and linemarking
  • New reinforced concrete shared pathway, 18,400m2
  • Landscaping and revegetation works
