The City of Rockingham undertook a high-quality major redevelopment of the Rockingham Foreshore Precinct including a grassed amphitheatre, a lookout point, “Eat Street” and an expanded Boardwalk with terracing to the beach.
Ertech was awarded Stage One of the revitalisation project, which comprised three main areas: Railway Terrace, the Beach Plaza and the Boardwalk.
Railway Terrace was re-organised to create a pedestrian-friendly shopping and ‘eat street’ experience.
Footpaths were widened to accommodate new trees and shrubs, and public amenities, including eating pods, bike racks, and seating and benches, were added. A timber stage was also installed for the “Busker’s Stage” with power, lighting, and seating.
The Beach Plaza is the ‘civic heart’ for Rockingham and includes a flexible event space that can accommodate up to 700 people.
New trees provide shaded areas for alfresco dining outside restaurants, featuring interactive lighting displays and colourful modular furniture and umbrellas to create a shaded environment.
The Boardwalk features three shaded timber landings, which include an accessible terrace from the Beach Bowl end for disability access, colourful lounge seating, a rope net climbing frame, a shaded concrete slide, and climbing wall handles.
The original memorial plaques in the area are now featured along the western terrace walls.
