Progress Road Upgrade

Project Overview

The project involved upgrading Progess Road between Boundary Road and the Centenary Motorway in Wacol, improving safety, increasing flood immunity, and increasing traffic capacity to cater for future traffic growth. The upgrade between Boundary Road and the Centenary Motorway was the final stage on Progress Road to be upgraded between Ipswich and Centenary highway. It is a primary access route for freight transport as well as a B-Double route. Research found the road has over 15,000 vehicles a day and up to 700 during peak hour.

Scope of works

  • Widening Progress Road from two/three lanes to a five-lane carriageway, including central median
  • Signalised intersection at the access to Komatsue
  • Constructing dedicated on road cycle lanes in east and west bound directions
  • Constructing dedicated off-road shard pedestrian/cyclist path on the northern verge
  • Replacing existing culvert crossing with a twin bridge structure designed for Q100 flood immunity at Bullockhead Creek
  • Landscaping, revegetation, levelling and turfing open spaces
  • Signage
  • Coordination of PUP works
