Muriel Henchman Park Improvements

Project Overview

Muriel Henchman Park, a key launch site for watercraft accessing Marine Stadium and surrounding areas, is undergoing a substantial improvement project as part of the Spit Master Plan. Informed by extensive community input, the project is a major stage of works resulting from the master plan.

Ertech has been engaged to deliver both landside and marine works. The improvement works will encompass multiple elements, and once complete, the Park will offer a total of 6 boat ramp lanes, an upgraded pontoon, a new floating walkway on the northern boat ramp, 160 trailer parks, 144 car parks, 6 car parks for people with disabilities, line marking, pathways, landscaping, public toilets, and a shade shelter.

The project involves designing and constructing various elements, including a central floating walkway with a piling system, extending the existing pontoon, and adding a shade shelter to the central amenities area.

Scope of works

  • Upgrade the boat ramps on the north side from two-lanes to four-lanes with a central floating walkway (D&C)
  • Upgrade the existing two-lane boat ramp on the south side
  • Design and construct existing pontoon extension
  • Construct public amenities building, large shade shelters, an open space area, and internal roads and paths
  • Construct revetment wall and vehicle and trailer access points
  • Install sewer pump station, electrical, and lighting reticulation
  • Install services/infrastructure to support a future Surf Life Saving facility
  • Remove existing vegetation, landscaping, and planting works
  • Install park infrastructure, including picnic tables, beach showers, and drinking fountains
  • Install informational, regulatory, and interpretive signage/ elements
  • Integrate public art into structures in the form of concrete stencilling
  • Demolish/decommission existing amenities block and existing services as required
