Ertech has recently secured a construct-only contract with Main Roads Western Australia to deliver concrete barrier upgrades on the Mitchell Freeway between Ocean Reef Road and Hester Avenue.

Focused on improving safety along a key transport corridor, the project will see existing barrier systems upgraded to more durable concrete solutions – helping to reduce incident severity and strengthen network resilience as traffic volumes continue to grow.

The scope includes the construction of 14 km of concrete barriers, alongside drainage and pavement upgrades, PTA interface works, and comprehensive traffic management across a live freeway environment carrying between 80,000 and 120,000 vehicles per day.

This award further aligns with Ertech’s continued expansion of its transport infrastructure portfolio, reinforcing our capability to build and renew road infrastructure on major arterial routes Main Roads.

The scope of work includes:

  • Removal of existing wire rope and other road safety barriers
  • Construction of 14 km of new concrete road safety barriers
  • Construction of ancillary drainage works, incl 1.4km of RCP
  • Construction of 90,000m2 various pavements, including shoulder widening of freeway
  • Construction of PTA access tracks, gates and facilities
  • Liaison with, obtaining approvals and construction in accordance with PTA requirements
  • Implementation of Traffic Management on the freeway
