This was the first major contract awarded by the State Government in the delivery phase of the new Perth Stadium project.

The works were secured as a joint venture between Ertech and Keller Ground Engineering and were undertaken as the EKJV.

The project consisted of earthworks preparation, ground improvement installation, surcharge and extensive monitoring of the external areas around the proposed stadium.

The EKJV was responsible for the design of all the works along with the physical construction, and engaged a number of design and environmental consultants to support the project team. The environmental considerations were a key focus.

The scope consisted of:

  • Earthworks
  • Wick drains and surcharge
  • Dynamic compaction
  • Instrumentation and monitoring
  • Design and construct of 12 MVA substations

From the end of March to December 2014 the response of the ground to the geotechnical and construction works will be monitored to verify the original design assumptions.

At this point the works are practically complete and comply with the design tolerances defined in the specifications.
