HSEC
Kellogg Brown and Root Pty Ltd – Geoff Pereira (State
General Manager)
On behalf of Kellogg Brown and Root Pty Ltd (KBR) I extend my personal
congratulations and sincere thanks for the positive outcomes on the
recent Pilbara Housing Project. The Health Safety and Environmental
performance has been recognised as outstanding achievement by both KBR
and our client Rio Tinto Iron Ore Expansion Projects.
This achievement is especially recognisable considering the nature of
the building industry in WA and the difficulty in attracting trades to
the Pilbara region resulting in a high workforce turnover and the
inherent high risk involved with the domestic housing industry.
Please extend our gratitude and this commendation to all concerned at
Ertech Pty Ltd for this outstanding achievement.
Reyco Consultants at Alcoa
- Terry Watt (Safety Advisor)
The management United KG informed me Ertech employees had requested
permission to enter their work area at Bld 50 and perform a task.
Could you pass on to the crew involved - Well Done and further the
protocol they followed is typical of their Safety Performance and
Attitude displayed during their time on Site.
Wayne has informed us that Ertech will demobilise in the near future.
I would like to thank you both for your professional leadership and
Safety Culture you instilled in your Ertech employees.
You also gained an Alcoa Best Practice delineating your work area for
Earth Moving Machinery.
I most certainly would welcome the chance to conduct project work with
Ertech again.
BHP Billiton
– Ken Hellston (President &COO Ravensthorpe
Nickel)
After a difficult start, Ertech has performed well at the Ravensthorpe
Nickel Project. You and your team are to be commended for actively
challenging areas of safety systems, attitudes and performance which
were below the site standards and have now become an example to other
contractors at site and being the only multiple winner of the
"contractor of the month" HSE award to date. This has resulted in
additional work being awarded to Ertech at RNP and recognition within
the broader BHP Billiton group in WA of your productivity and safety
standards.
It is notable that the 2 best performing contractors at RNP in terms of
productivity and meeting targets (XXXX and Ertech) are also the best
performers in terms of their safety systems and maturity.
Quality
Worsley Alumina – Craig Philip (Brda Civil Engineer)
I would like to formally acknowledge the performance of Ertech's
operators over the last week in completing the preparation works for
winter. I have been impressed by the quality of the work that has been
produced and the efficient manner in which it was performed. The rock
lining of the western drain, the sand stockpile access ramp, the silt
fences and the reinstating of the fresh water diversion drain have all
be completed to above my expected requirements.
I think the performance of yourself, Miles, Mike and the operators in
preparing the site to drain and to protect existing works, shows a
sound understanding of what is required to complete the work next year.
It also shows smart construction planning which will allow a smooth
start-up next season.
Can you please pass on my comments to all people involved.
Landscape Enterprises WA
– David J Smith (Project Landscape Architect)
East Perth Redevelopment, Belvidere West
I have just returned from the final inspection of Belvidere. I would
like to take this opportunity to thank you and your team for the
excellent product you have produced. I am please to say that the
construction has fully realised my design intentions.
Could you please thank your project team on my behalf, in particular
John, Mike and your sub contractors for their care and attention to the
project.
I look forward to working with yourself and Ertech on future projects
should the opportunity arise.
Ellenbrook Management
– Maurice Owen (Chairman)
On Thursday of last week, Ellenbrook hosted a briefing and on-site tour
involving the Boards of Homeswest and Sanwa Vines, and our own Joint
Venture Board.
All of those who attended were most impressed with the work that has
occurred on site and the progress made with the civil works, the
Information and Sales Centre, the lake and other landscaping
treatments.
Could you please pass on to all members of your team our appreciation
for their standard of work and their individual contributions towards a
major project for which, by the time of the September official launch,
we should all be justifiably proud.
For the occasions when special arrangements have been made to
accommodate these visits and other events on site, please also accept
our thanks for your assistance and patience.
Halpern Glick Pty Ltd
- Kent Hamilton (Director)
WELSHPOOL INDUSTRIAL SUBDIVISION
We are very pleased with the performance of Ertech Pty Ltd during the
course of the above Contract.
The job was an extremely difficult one in view of services, water
levels and the approving Authority. We are grateful for your personal
efforts and those of Bluey Martin and John Goddard in overcoming the
multitude of problems which arose.
We take this opportunity of wishing you and your staff a Merry
Christmas, and a prosperous New Year and we look forward to further
association in the future.
Golder Associates Pty Ltd
- David Williams (Mngr. Mine Waste
Services)
Just a quick note to confirm that I inspected your work installing
additional decants on the step-ins of the RDAs at Boddington Gold Mine
on 12 April. I also inspected the construction of the "leaky wall". I
was very pleased with what I observed and, in particular, was heartened
by the work ethic and altitude of your contract supervisor (Marty).
Well done and congratulations!
Federal Airports
Corporation - T. Peterson (Assist. Tech. Service
Mngr.)
I appreciate the manner in which this work was carried out in terms of
quality and timeliness…and, in particular, the attention given to
aircraft safety. This work has contributed to a safer and more
efficient Airport.
Town of Port Hedland
- Rob Whooley (Manager Engineering Services)
We would like to acknowledge the significant contribution made by
Ertech Pty Ltd. The project progressed from concept to reality, largely
as a result of the positive cooperation and support from Ertech
management, staff and operators.
Main Roads WA
- Linsday McCartin (Great Southern Region)
Main Roads appreciates the excellent level of traffic management
implemented by Ertech through the duration of Contract 528/01.
ATA Environmental
- Deanne Neilson (Senior Environmental Scientist)
I would like to take this opportunity to commend Ertech, and in
particular your Project Manager and Site Supervisor for the high
commitment to environmental management during the Stage 1 works.
Partnering
Burns Management Pty Ltd
- P. G. Turner
During the four years that Ertech and Burns Management were associated
in sub-division development at Kinross, our partnership developed to
the extent that many extensions to contracts were awarded by
negotiation.
Chevron
Australia Pty Ltd
- Peter Poole (Field Super - W.A.
Oil Asset)
The actions of the team you currently have working on Barrow Island
have moved me to action. Through the normal course of my day &
week I have on several occasions received word of the extra efforts
your team has made to work as a partner with Chevron within this
facility.
We all work hard here to make welcome new work teams to the island and
so my expectation is that new arrivals will join in to assist us toward
our short term goals & long term vision. Peter Hunter &
his team can proudly take credit for their achievement of rapid
assimilation into this unique work environment and their display of
safe & professional performance.
BHP Billiton
– Peter Oliver (Area 5 Manager Ravensthorpe Nickel
Project)
Ertech were awarded the second contract on the Ravensthorpe Nickel
Project valued at $10m for the construction of the site works which
also included roads, services and lined holding dams. Because of their
performance on that project and the open and honest relationship that
developed, further contracts totalling $120m were awarded to Ertech
among them being:
• Permanent
Accommodation village $7m
• 40km Sea Water Pipeline $14m
• Tailings storage facility $32m
• Miscellaneous Civil Works $40m
• 1300 man camp expansion value $12m
These additional contracts were in a variety of forms
ranging from lump
sum to cost re-imbursible. Ertech’s willingness to be flexible to meet
our construction needs was invaluable. Their embracing of our
requirements on safety saw them awarded Safety Contractor of the month
8 times. As a result of their performance on these contracts, Ertech
have been recommended for future works on other BHP Billiton projects.
