Description
The contract was to provide an increased capacity and more reliable
process water supply to the Mt. Whaleback and Newman Hub operations.
Ertech’s scope of works included:

  • Clearing of 240,000m2 of working corridor.
  • Supply and weld 2,700m of 710mmØ Polyethylene pipe.
  • Supply and weld 10,200m of 630mmØ Polyethylene pipe.
  • Trenching (using a Vermeer chain trenching machine), lay and backfill – 12,900m.
  • Installation of valve fencing compounds.
  • Remedial work to water storage tank (49mØ by 9.9m height), including a structure controlled survey and re-lining.
  • Installation of pumps and electrical control devices on the E-Bore submersible pumps.
  • Road thrust boring – one locations of 20m.
  • Traffic control management.
  • Location of services by means of “potholing” machine.

 

INNOVATION - use of Fast Fusion Welding Machines, installation of an excavator height restrictor , development of a compacting wheel for side compaction and lifting pike to off –load pipes.
