Indigenous Engagement

Indigenous Engagement

Ertech are committed to the genuine engagement of indigenous people. We recognise and value the Traditional Owners of our land and respect their unique social and cultural links to it.

Ertech have a long history of working collaboratively with local indigenous people, organisations, and communities in many locations in Western Australia.

As a company, we are market leaders in the provision of outstanding regional infrastructure and pride ourselves on these positive and lasting improvements to local areas and communities. An integral part of our approach is the meaningful relationships we have with Traditional Owners and their representatives.

Ertech’s commitment to the development of indigenous people and their communities includes:

  • establishing a work environment that is welcoming, respectful and understanding of indigenous people and culture;
  • assisting indigenous people in developing “work readiness” skills
  • providing on-the-job training for semi-skilled labour
  • providing individuals with the opportunity to undertake formal training and / or apprenticeships
  • mentoring selected indigenous small businesses to develop industry specific business skills.

As an example, on the Ord Expansion project in Kununurra, Ertech engaged local indigenous construction company WannaWork, to provide labour for building, construction and civil works. In addition, Ertech helped WannaWork to identify and assist with training and skills development. Ertech also provided assistance to WannaWork in improving their management, safety, quality and environmental systems.
