The Green Square Urban Renewal Area is located within the most important economic corridor in the country. Sitting between Sydney’s City Centre and Kingsford Smith International Airport, Green Square covers 278ha of Australia’s oldest industrial area and has long been considered the largest and perhaps most important renewal project in Australia.

Green Square Town Centre is a new retail/commercial and residential precinct. Bounded by Bourke Street, Botany Road, Joynton Avenue and Hansard Street, the area has a history of industrial usage, and the buildings, hardstands associated with these facilities have been demolished and the area cleared for future redevelopment.

These infrastructure works centre upon the creation of Geddes Avenue and Portman Street, upgrade of the existing Botany Road and the associated utilities and public domain.

Ertech’s scope of works includes:

  • Removal and remediation of future road reserve areas within the development in accordance with the requirements of the RAP
  • Creation of Geddes Avenue and Paul Street including cycle paths, associated infrastructure and public domain works
  • Extension of Ebsworth Street to a new signalised intersection with the future Zetland Avenue
  • Creation of new signalised intersection between Geddes Avenue and Paul Street
  • Creation of a new intersection on Portman Street with the proposed Geddes Avenue
  • Creation of new signalised intersection on Botany Road (at Geddes Avenue)
  • Creation of an additional lane, median and footpath works on Botany Road
  • Internal utilities reticulation and lead-ins
  • Reinstatement of pavements outside the new roads where excavation is required for services works
