Ertech's contract for the Blue Mile Tramway Seawall and Shared Path Upgrade involves the installation of a new Tramway Seawall and replacement of the shared path connecting North Beach and Belmore Basin along Cliff Road in Wollongong.

These works will replace the existing stone seawall which has failed in a number of places leading to erosion and undermining of the shared pathway.

The works include:

  • Upgrade of the existing shared pathway which will follow the original tramline
  • Construction of a new sea wall immediately adjacent to the existing sea wall
  • Observation / sitting areas will be constructed along the path for passive recreation
  • Replacement of existing fence on eastern side of pathway
  • A kerb and gutter is to be constructed at the base of the cliff, on western side of pathway, to capture debris and provide an edge for path cleaning
  • Provide new lighting along the western side of the proposed pathway
  • Provide conduits to the continental pools for future power upgrades and CCTV provision
  • Provide underground electrical and stormwater infrastructure to service the pathway
  • Implement associated landscape works
